A house in Kingston Township, Luzerne County, was struck by lightning on Monday evening, causing a fire that engulfed the residence. Emergency services responded to the scene in the Shavertown-Trucksville area, where firefighters battled the blaze for several hours. Fortunately, the occupants of the home were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.

The lightning strike occurred during a thunderstorm that swept through the region, bringing heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. The house, located on a hilltop, was particularly vulnerable to lightning strikes, according to local officials. The fire destroyed much of the structure, leaving only a charred frame behind. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been started by the lightning strike.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of lightning, which can strike with little warning and cause significant damage. Homeowners are advised to take precautions to protect their property, such as installing lightning rods, surge protectors, and other safety devices. In addition, it is important to have a plan in place for the home in case of a fire or other emergency.
