Seven Tubs Recreation Area in Luzerne County is closed

BEAR CREEK, Pa. (WOLF) — The popular 121-acre Seven Tubs Recreation Area within the Pinchot State Forest will be closed for the season as part of a $1.5 million infrastructure project.

The gate located off Rt. 115 in Bear Creek will remain closed until construction has been concluded.

The D&L Trail has also been closed for public use from Seven Tubs (Mile Marker 152.25) to Oliver Mills Crossing (Mile Marker 149.5) to accommodate the construction.

According to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), upgrades are being made to improve visitor safety, traffic flow, and forest recreation.

The work to the recreation area consists of:

  • Construction at the Route 115 entrance

  • Restoring the roads on Bear Creek Boulevard

  • Parking lot expansion

  • Development of pedestrian walkways

  • Stormwater management improvements

  • Access to the popular D&L Trail

DCNR is reminding visitors there are other nearby public lands that can be utilized during the Summer. For a full list of state parks, you can visit DCNR’s website.
